My Favorite Food Fish Ball (鱼丸)

Fish balls are a traditional dish of Fuzhou. Every Fuzhou person eats fish balls. Fish balls can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This is a delicious food. There are many types of fish balls. There are different fish balls in all parts of China. They can make fish balls in China using different kinds of fish or different ingredients. But I prefer Fuzhou fish balls because when I was a very small child, I started to eat Fuzhou fish balls. Another legend of Fuzhou Fish Ball: In Fuzhou, a long time ago, a businessman and a fishing boat went out to sea. They met a typhoon in the sea, their boat hit the reef, their boat ran aground, and they could only eat fish every day. Merchants feel that eating fish every day is very boring, so the chef on the boat cleans the squid. The captain's wife mashes the fish, applies sweet potato powder, and then squeezes the fish sauce of sweet potato powder into meatballs. Then she cooks them in water and finally they eat.



Making Fuzhou fish balls is not a simple matter, because Fuzhou fish balls are made with fish sauce, but making the fish sauce is a difficult thing, but the fish is only part of Fuzhou fish balls. The first step in making a fish paste is to clean the fish and the fish skin on the surface. The second step in making the fish paste is to use a knife to gently scrape the fish until only the fish bones are left and removed. Then take the shaved fish and mash it and the fish paste is finished. The other part is the filling inside. The filling of Fuzhou fish balls is inside. It is relatively simple to make the filling. The filling of Fuzhou fish balls is made by mixing pork with chopped green onion and some seasonings, then steaming. The steamed meat is made into a sphere with a scoop, which is the filling of Fuzhou fish balls. The final step in making Fuzhou fish balls is to put the meatball in one hand, the other hand to hold the fish paste, then throw the meatball into the fish paste. Then squeeze the fish paste into a ball and finally cook it in water. Fuzhou fish balls have been formed. The prepared Fuzhou fish balls are very bouncy. You can catch the Fuzhou fish balls in your hands and throw them on the table. It will bounce like a ball. Fuzhou fish balls are rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iodine, iron, and multivitamins. Fuzhou fish balls can be used to make soup and stir-fry. But Fuzhou people will use it as a soup because Fuzhou people like soup very much. Seventy percent of the recipes in Fuzhou are soups. If Fuzhou fish balls are used for soup, Fuzhou people will join RouYan. It's a perfect match. The Fuzhou fish balls for making soup are very simple. Just add the cold water to the pot and add the Fuzhou fish balls. You can start cooking. When the water is boiling, you can join RouYan. If you like, then add some seasonings to the bowl. Put the Fuzhou fish balls in a bowl and add a little soup to cook Fuzhou fish balls. You can start eating it.

If you want to eat Fuzhou fish balls, you can buy them at some Asian supermarkets or Chinese supermarkets. You can buy Fuzhou fish balls at Albany's Asian Food Market, but the package there is Lianjiang fish balls, but don't worry because Lianjiang is a county in Fuzhou. If you want to eat cooked Fuzhou fish balls, you should go to Chinatown in New York City.   1. This sounds interesting! How long (in hours/minutes) does it take for it to cook? How big are they? I think it is really cool that you can bounce them on the table.

    1. If you buy the prepared fish balls, it takes about 10 minutes to cook them. If you make the fish balls yourself and cook them, it takes about 1 hour.

    3. I won't make fish balls, but I will cook fish balls. It's hard to make fish balls. I have seen my mother make fish balls, but I think it takes a lot of time to make fish balls, so I didn't learn how to make fish balls.

    4. Like some Asian supermarkets, I know there are two Asian supermarkets to buy in Albany, one is Asian Supermarket and the other is Asian Food Market.

  4. There are definitely different types of fish balls. In fact, my favorite is a garlic-flavored fish ball. The fish balls taste good. After I came to the United States, I never tasted the fish balls of that taste because I didn't find it in the US market.
